All-Star Sports Academy is proud to announce that one of our most celebrated and inspiring events – the Pro Instructional Series has launched! Now entering its third year, this series continues to bring unmatched access to some of the game’s most respected former MLB pros. With a commitment to player development, mentorship, and inspiration, the Pro Instructional Series offers young athletes an unforgettable experience – on the field, with the pros.

This year’s lineup features a powerful mix of major league talent, each bringing their own stories of perseverance, achievement, and love for the game:

  • Tommy Greene – Former pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, best known for throwing a no-hitter in 1991. Greene compiled a 38-25 record over his MLB career, showcasing resilience and dominance on the mound.
  • Milt Thompson – Played 13 seasons in the big leagues and was a key contributor to the 1993 National League Champion Phillies. Thompson was known for his speed, clutch hitting, and outfield defense.
  • Ricky Bottalico – An MLB All-Star and longtime closer for the Phillies, Bottalico tallied 116 career saves and was one of the league’s top relievers during the mid-to-late ’90s.
  • Ben Davis – Drafted second overall in 1995, Davis played parts of seven MLB seasons as a catcher, including stints with the Padres, Mariners, and White Sox. Known for his strong arm and presence behind the plate, Davis has remained a key figure in the game as a Philadelphia Phillies pre- and post-game contributor since 2011 and the team’s in-game color analyst on NBC Sports Philadelphia since 2015.
  • Mickey Morandini – A 1995 MLB All-Star and 11-year veteran second baseman, Morandini also earned an Olympic gold medal in 1988 as a member of Team USA.
  • Jesse Levis – Spent parts of nine seasons in the big leagues as a catcher with the Guardians and Brewers. His professional career was marked by consistency and a deep knowledge of the game’s finer points. After his playing days, Jesse transitioned into scouting, where he was credited with scouting J.T. Realmuto and Zack Wheeler to the Philadelphia Phillies.
  • Zach Lutz – A former third baseman for the New York Mets, Lutz made his MLB debut in 2012 and also had a successful international career, playing in Japan.
  • Creighton Gubanich – Played for the Boston Red Sox in 1999 and made history by hitting a grand slam as his first Major League hit – one of only a handful of players to ever do so.

The Pro Instructional Series goes far beyond drills and reps. It’s about learning what it takes to chase your dreams from those who have lived it – and helping young athletes grow as both players and people. Each event is designed to inspire and challenge players, equipping them with the tools, mindset, and mentorship needed to reach their goals.

At All-Star Sports Academy, our mission is simple: to inspire and mentor young athletes to become successful individuals – one game, one lesson, and one player at a time. The Pro Instructional Series is a living example of that mission in action. By learning directly from MLB professionals, athletes receive more than instruction – they gain perspective, confidence, and the belief that greatness is within reach.
